Are you ready to add wood flooring to your home, but feel a bit overwhelmed with all of the different options that are available to you? Here is what you need to know about a few different hardwood flooring options so that you can make an informed decision.

Hardwood

Many homeowners love hardwood because of the warmth that natural wood can provide. You just can't replicate the experience of having real wood in your home, which is why you may not like the alternative products. Hardwood can be sanded down to restore the look over time, so it is an investment that is going to last. It gives you the opportunity to sand the flooring and stain it a different color if you ever want to change things up.

Engineered Hardwood

What makes engineered hardwood different is that it is still real wood, but the manufacturing of the planks is a bit different because only the top layer of the planks is made of real hardwood, so it is not the same throughout the entire board. It can give the look and feel of hardwood, but at a cheaper price. While you can sand down that top layer of engineered hardwood later on, you can't do it as many times as you can with real hardwood.

Luxury Vinyl Plank

Luxury vinyl plank flooring material is going to be a more affordable flooring option, but it is made of vinyl instead of hardwood. This makes the material scratch-resistant and waterproof, which can be a huge advantage to a homeowner that wants a more durable flooring material with the look of hardwood. While the top layer on the material is a print, it can look incredibly realistic, giving the appearance of real wood.

Laminate

Laminate wood flooring material has a manufactured wood base with a wood print on top. What makes this flooring better than luxury vinyl plank flooring is that it is a cheaper material. You don't get the same durability and waterproof benefits, but it is at a cheaper cost. Laminate can have a convincing print on it as well, giving it the same appearance of luxury vinyl planks.
